Ana is a social researcher, community organizer, and clinical therapist. Early in her career, she worked on economic resilience programs in conflict-affected regions, partnering with government agencies and international organizations.
In 2023, she brought neighbors together to reconstitute the Port Jefferson Civic Association. She has served as President ever since, overseeing development reviews, town halls, and candidate nights.
She has advocated for key issues affecting the Village—such as flooding, erosion, and over-development—including efforts to relocate the Village’s flood-prone fire house.
Under her leadership, Civic meetings have become the venue where neighbors debate local priorities and communicate directly with local government. As President, Ana works to keep the Village community vibrant, connected, and informed.
Inspired by the inaugural meeting of the revived Port Jeff Civic Association in January 2023, Kathleen stepped up to serve on the board. Over the past three years, as Corresponding Secretary, she put her journalism background to work by authoring petitions, letters to the editor, and local calls to action.
Her advocacy has focused on critical Village challenges, including flooding, erosion, and over-development. To amplify these efforts, she spearheaded a Tri-Civic collaboration with neighboring leaders in Port Jefferson Station/Terryville and Three Village. This coalition successfully petitioned the Town of Brookhaven to form a Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) task force and established regular briefings with elected officials to keep local concerns front and center.
Now serving as Vice President, Kathleen remains dedicated to growing and strengthening the Civic, fostering community connections, and advocating for Port Jeff’s future.
Rob brings deep expertise, integrity, and careful financial stewardship to his role as Treasurer, ensuring the Civic’s finances are managed with complete transparency. A retired Certified Internal Auditor with a B.A. in Accounting, he spent more than 25 years in federal government roles, including the U.S. Treasury Inspector General’s Internal Audit Division. Throughout his career—which included holding a Top Secret security clearance—he managed high-level responsibilities requiring strict financial oversight, confidentiality, and accountability.
Beyond his financial background, Rob offers extensive governance experience. He has previously served as President of the Longwood Library Board of Trustees, President of the Long Island Chapter of the Institute of Internal Auditors, and President of two homeowners associations.
In addition to managing the Civic’s finances, Rob serves as Chair of the Land Use Committee, regularly attending Village, Planning, and Zoning Board meetings to safeguard the community’s interests.
Janice has been an active member of the Civic Association since its reconstitution in 2023, serving as Recording Secretary since April 2024. In this role, she produces comprehensive minutes of Board meetings and video records all Civic meetings.
Janice was instrumental in establishing both the Civic’s Quality of Life Committee and the Walkability Work Group (WWG), which she chaired from 2023 to 2026. Under her guidance, the WWG advocated to add sidewalks to the Village’s main arteries in order to establish safer pedestrian connections between residential neighborhoods and local commercial hubs. Additionally, Janice collaborates with municipal officials and conservation experts to advance public awareness and preservation efforts for the Scraggy Hill Forest.
A retired Nurse Practitioner, holding a Master of Science from Stony Brook University, Janice leverages her extensive clinical experience at Stony Brook University Hospital to inform her civic work. She employs her professional expertise in active listening, strategic communication, and community outreach in order to keep Port Jefferson safe, connected and well-informed.
John grew up in Rocky Point and has lived in Port Jeff for nearly five years with his wife, Chris. Before retiring, he spent his career in the technology sector, specializing in customer advocacy, process improvement, and client relations—skills he now brings to his work with the Civic.
As Corresponding Secretary, John uses that technical and advocacy background to modernize how the Civic serves and communicates with the community. In addition to launching a new website for the Civic, he serves as Chair of the Quality of Life Committee, where he designed and implemented an online reporting system that allows residents to easily log concerns, track progress, and connect directly with the committee.
Beyond his technology initiatives, John leads local efforts advocating for responsible landscaping practices and sensible gas-powered leaf blower regulations. He frequently presents on that topic and meets with elected officials to advance community health and noise standards. In addition to his leadership on the steering committee of the national Quiet Clean Alliance, John and his wife are active volunteers with Meals on Wheels.
